Danny Stewart
Director of Hockey/Head Coach
Hugely popular Canadian, Danny Stewart previously spent four incredibly successful seasons as a player with Coventry between 2006 and 2010 - winning the Elite League Championship on three occasions and also adding a Challenge Cup and Knock-Out Cup. Danny then became player/coach of the now defunct Newcastle Vipers and during his year in the North East, guided his team to the Challenge Cup semi-final. He was named Elite League Coach of the Year despite the off-ice struggles of the organisation. After five years as Associate Coach of the Fife Flyers, in 2016, Danny returned to lead the Blaze with a wealth of coaching knowledge and the same pride and passion for his work that made him one of the club's all-time favourite players. In 2018, after taking on additional responsibility for the on-ice side of the club, Danny's significant efforts were rewarded with the role of Director of Hockey, in addition to his Head Coaching role. In 2019, he led the team to a streak of 19 consecutive Elite League competition games without losing in regulation time. It was the best run of form the club had enjoyed since an equal 19 game streak over February/March of 2005 when the Blaze team of that season won the Elite League Grandslam.
Danny is sponsored by Coach's Corner (Pete and Jan Lissaman, Chris and Dawn Weaver, Paul and Lin Reece & Tom and Stephanie Wright).
