Walker nets as Blaze pick up point in Belfast
Brenden Walker marked his Genting Casino Coventry Blaze debut with a goal as they claimed a point in a 2-1 shoot-out defeat to Belfast Giants at the SSE Arena.
The Canadian forward went straight into the line-up with defenceman James Isaacs a healthy scratch while Cale Tanaka was suspended.
Walker made an immediate impact by scoring just 3.31 into the match to put Blaze in front in the club's 400th road game in all EIHL competitions.
But Brandon Benedict tied it up on the powerplay at 28.21 with the game then going to a shoot-out, in which Giants' David Rutherford had the only successful shot.
The teams meet again in Belfast on Saturday night, with Blaze able to call on Tanaka again having appealed his additional two-game ban.
"I thought we grounded out a point. Powerplay's ended up 6-2 to them and I dont think it was 6-2 game but I give our penalty kill alot of credit... to come up with those kills against was huge for us." - Head Coach Chuck Weber
