Blaze slay Giants on home ice
For the second week running, the Genting Casino Coventry put on a fine display in front of their home support, hammering the Erhardt Conference’s Belfast Giants by a score of 6-1.
There was a dream start for Danny Stewart’s men as Man of the Match and the September Player of Month Marco Vallerand hit two in the opening minute (0.16 & 0.38).
Belfast responded through Brendan Connolly (14.46) but that was as good as it got for the Irish side.
Captain Jordan Pietrus in the second period made it 3-1 (10.45) before Coventry were denied a fourth following video review. Ross Venus’ effort being ruled out as the net was dislodged before the puck crossed the line.
The British forward was not to be deterred though finding the back of the net for 4-1 early in the third period (44.27).
Shortly after, Garrett Ladd who this weekend returned following a lengthily spell on the side-lines registered his first for the club (45.52).
Defenceman Gaelan Patterson next opened his account for the season, completing the rout short-handed, Ryan Dingle and Luke Ferrara registering the assists, their second each of the night.
