Blaze secure 4 point weekend with Clan victory
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze completed a four point weekend with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Braehead Clan at the Skydome Arena.
British forward Luke Ferrara opened the scoring (13.03) before Marco Vallerand, who had earlier picked up a ten minute misconduct penalty for checking from behind made it 2-0 on the powerplay (16.03).
Adam Brace of the Clan registered the only goal in the second period. His teammate Bari McKenzie receiving a ten minute personal misconduct for abuse of official Stefan Hogarth.
In the third period, following a minor boarding penalty to Brendan Brooks, Braehead's Jacob Doty was then assessed a 5+ game penalty for spearing Coventry's Ross Venus. On the resulting 5-on-3, Captain Jordan Pietrus, who was named the Blaze Man of the Match for the second night running registered for 3-1 (46.17).
Assistant Captain Ryan Dingle wrapped up the scoring, his hard-work being well rewarded on 55.04 for a final score of 4-1.
