Blaze resurrect two-way Selby deal with Wildcats
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm that they have resurrected the two-way agreement with the Swindon Wildcats of the English Premier League for British player Matt Selby.
21-year-old Selby, who recently made his 150th appearance for Coventry will continue to train with the Blaze, with Head Coach Danny Stewart having first call on his services.
A product of the Blaze junior system, Selby has made 17 appearances for Blaze so far this season.
Where appropriate, the 6’0” forward and equally adapt defenceman will now also ice for the Swindon Wildcats, where he spent last season too, gaining additional ice-time and experience to aid his continuing development.
Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart said, “We believe this will benefit Matt Selby in his development for the future. He will continue to train with us every day and be used in games we feel he will get more ice. He will still be a member of the Coventry Blaze. What this does is allow him to play more minutes in more situations and reap the benefits of both situations. We will have total control of when we need him or when he plays in Swindon which was the only way we would consider this.”
