Blaze launch Support25 campaign for Adam Calder
For those that are not aware, Genting Casino Coventry Blaze club legend Adam Calder, who won eight major trophies with the club over six seasons has been battling cancer for over two years now.
Despite several surgeries and therapy to fight this disease, Adam’s health is still greatly affected and he is now seeking new treatments and medications that are not available under the NHS. This may require the need to travel abroad to seek further treatment not accessible in the UK. The costs for these treatments are significant.
Therefore, the club have decided to call on Blaze fans, and the British hockey family to come together to support Adam in his fight.
Over the next few days we will be announcing various ways in which you can support, donate and contribute towards the 'Support25' campaign to help Adam.
Please use the hashtag #Support25 on social media to help raise awareness of this important campaign.
Blaze vs. Steelers - Tuesday 25th October (#Support25 benefit game)
The first announcement is that Blaze will be playing a benefit game against Sheffield Steelers on Tuesday 25th October, 7.30pm face-off.
The game will consist of two periods of 3-on-3 hockey, and a skills competition involving both sets of players.
All proceeds from the night will go to Adam’s benefit fund. We would like to thank Tony Smith and Paul Thompson from the Steelers for their support in making this game happen. The evening will be a fun night, and we hope to see as many hockey fans as possible coming along to support Adam.
Both teams will be wearing special commemorative jerseys that will be signed by the respective player and then auctioned after the game. There will also be a raffle on the evening as well as other money raising initiatives.
We would like to thank Planet Ice for providing the Skydome free of charge for the evening.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday (3rd October) from 10am and are priced at £10 for Adults, £5 for Under 16’s. For this game there are no other concession prices.
Please note that Blaze season ticket seats will not be reserved for this game and all seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
The club will be announcing a further Support25 events in the next few days.

Blaze Director and close friend of Adam, James Pease commented, "We are working together at the club to find ways to help and raise money for our friend Adam Calder. We know Blaze fans and hockey fans in general will want to contribute in any way they can, so I ask them to keep an eye out for information the club will be putting out over the next few days. ‘Calds’ is a special guy, and we will be doing everything we possibly can to help him beat this."
