Blaze fall to stars
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze saw their hopes of finishing seventh in the Elite League ended after a 2-1 defeat to Dundee Stars on Tayside.
Blaze brought defenceman James Isaacs back into the line-up with forward Cale Tanaka sitting out.
Stars out-shot Blaze 17-6 in a first period in which Justin Faryna handed them the lead on the powerplay at 16.14.
Jim Jorgensen tied it up for Blaze 13.02 into the final period but Lou Dickenson won it for Stars with just 2.57 remaining.
Goaltender Brian Stewart made 39 saves in a man of the match display for Blaze, who round off the regular season against Manchester Storm at the Skydome on Sunday (5.15pm face-off).
Coach Chuck Weber said: "It is always disappointing to lose but I thought we made a slow start and could not sustain enough offensive zone time to create any chances.
"It is always tough coming up here with the long bus trip and having to find your game. You are in survival mode in the first period and I was pretty happy to come out of it one down.
"We got some urgency in the third period but it is a shame we didn't show enough of that in the second. We just didn't get enough going."
