The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are excited to welcome back 27-year-old Canadian forward Johnny Curran for the 2022/23 Elite League season.

Curran enjoyed a career season over 2021/22 scoring 47 points (19 goals, 28 assists) in 54 regular season games, plus five points (one goal, four assists) in 10 Challenge Cup appearances.

It was Curran’s second campaign in Coventry, previously producing six goals, 23 assists in 46 Elite League competition games during his debut pro season which was cut short due to the COVID pandemic.

With the 2020/21 Elite League season cancelled, the winger iced for Wichita Thunder of the ECHL where he had an assist on his debut before moving on to Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL.

With the Ice Bears, Curran scored 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 25 regular season games and had a goal in two playoff games.

Before turning pro, Curran iced in the NCAA with Niagara University where he was an associate Captain playing a total of 131 games with 26 goals, 29 assists for 55 points.

Head Coach Danny Stewart said: “Curry really found his stride last season in terms of production. Another guy that made the most of additional opportunity, and had a career year. We like his speed and energy and he will play in our top six next season. He is still at a good age and has the upside to get even better.”
