The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze and Belfast Giants drew 2-2 in the first leg of the Premier Sports Playoff Quarter-Final at the Skydome Arena on Saturday to set-up a winner takes all bout on Sunday in Belfast.

The Giants took an early lead at 5.50 through Darcy Murphy which was the only goal through 40 minutes.

Ryan Penny was denied twice on a breakaway by Tyler Beskorowany before the Blaze found a deserved equaliser at 51.50 through Janne Kivilahti.

Coach Adam Keefe called a time-out following the Blaze goal and it paid dividends as Slater Doggett put the away side ahead on 55.04.

Coventry weren’t to allow their efforts go unrewarded though as man of the match Nate Halbert tied things at 58.11 to send the tie to Belfast finely balanced at 2-2.
