Forward Ryan Penny scored four times to lead the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze to a 6-2 victory over the Fife Flyers at the Skydome Arena.
Finn Janne Laakkonen opened the scoring at seven minutes in a first period which saw the Blaze score four times and take command of the game.
Penny’s first of the quadruple came at 13.21 before Janne Kivilahti made it 3-0 at 15.57.
Despite Fife calling a time-out, the Blaze didn’t let up and Penny scored again (16.44) to give the home side a 4-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Penny’s hat-trick came early in the second (25.23) and he celebrated further at 36.57, bagging a fourth on the powerplay.
To their credit, the Flyers continued to fight back and were rewarded with two goals from James Anderson (38.28) and Carson Stadnyk (51.23) on the powerplay.
