A third period powerplay goal from Justin Hodgman was enough to help the Sheffield Steelers move back to the top of the Elite League with a narrow 2-1 victory over the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze at the Skydome Arena.

Steelers defenceman Sam Jones opened the scoring of the Pride game at 5.12, blasting the puck past C.J. Motte in the Blaze net from the blue-line.

Coventry hit back straight away through Associate Captain Ross Venus who finished nicely past Rok Stojanovic at 5.29.

Steelers were able to kill two penalties in the second period, and the Blaze one, leaving the game game tied at one after 40 minutes.

It took until 51.09 for Sheffield to find a winner and it came on the man advantage with Hodgman taking advantage of a fortunate bounce to beat Motte in close.

Blaze pulled Motte for the extra skater and earned a powerplay with nine seconds to go but the Steelers were able to hang on and take away the two points.
