A six-goal second period helped the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze to an 8-3 win over the Manchester Storm at the Skydome Arena on Sunday.
Man of the Match Alex Forbes scored the first of two goals to open the scoring at 4.58.
Manchester responded immediately through Curtis Hamilton with six minutes on the clock.
Just 12 seconds into the second period, the visitors went ahead with Adam Brady beating C.J. Motte in the Blaze net.
Things quickly went downhill for the Storm however as the goals rained in for the Blaze.
Evan Bloodoff was to register twice (21.34 and 39.16), David Clements scored on the powerplay (23.28) and Nate Halbert hit his third of the regular season (30.46).
In the absence of top-scorer Luke Ferrara, Dane Gibson was moved to forward from defence and also scored in the middle period blitz (34.07).
Short-handed, Forbes scored his second at 36.43 to end the second period with Blaze 7-2 up.
James Downie replaced Matt Ginn in the Manchester goal to start the third period and after Brady had scored his second to cut into Blaze’s lead at 43.26, the Brit was beaten by Gibson to double his goal tally (44.26).
