Third-period double hurts Blaze
Two final-period goals sent Genting Casino Coventry Blaze to a 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Panthers at the National Ice Centre in the Elite League.
Blaze welcomed defenceman Kevin Noble back into the line-up while Russell Cowley made his 850th appearance for the club in all competitions.
Former Blaze forward Chris Lawrence grabbed the go-ahead goal for Panthers at 10.33 and Logan MacMillan doubled their lead at 13.29.
Chris Bruton's maiden marker for Blaze cut the deficit at 15.04 before Drew Fisher tied the game at 2-2 with a powerplay strike at 25.21.
Evan Mosey restored Panthers' lead at 47.19 and added an insurance goal at 56.01.
"It is disappointing. That is three games in a row where we have been tied going into the third period and have failed to get points.
"We need to be a lot smarter managing our energy. We are spending too much time defending and we are not creating enough offensively.
"It is all about points now. It is frustrating because these three games have gone by, they are opportunities you can't get back. We need to start closing out games.
"We know how tough our schedule is but we need to find ways to get points. We have to get something against Cardiff and Sheffield next weekend." - Head Coach, Chuck Weber
