The games get bigger and bigger

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for the support over a very busy Christmas period.

After a tricky end to November and start to December, the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze have since secured impressive victories over Nottingham Panthers, twice on home ice, Cardiff Devils and the Sheffield Steelers with Head Coach Danny Stewart reflecting, "It's been a busy Christmas stretch with 5 games in 8 days, mixed in with a turkey in between, but I felt like we handled it well. We had a couple of unfortunate injuries and we now have a couple of days to get some guys healed up and catch our breath."

As we move into 2019 and the season heads towards its stretch, the games just bigger and bigger.

The league has rarely been tighter with just six points (three wins) separating us in 9th and Fife Flyers in 4th.

At the top, a single point is the difference between Belfast Giants and the chasing reigning Champions Cardiff Devils who have two games in hand.

For us, the race to ensure a healthy playoff spot is now on.

It begins with a fixture against the league's bottom side, Milton Keynes Lightning away from home on Saturday (7pm). The might be propping up the rest, but the Lightning have proved a troublesome opponent for the Blaze, and in particular their star netminder Patrick Killen.

Then on Sunday, we return home to take on the in-form Glasgow Clan (5.15pm). Currently sitting 3 points ahead of us, it's a huge game to close that gap.
