Thank you to Jordan Gook

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze took time to thank their valued set of volunteers last night at the annual awards show.

One person who wasn't able to be there was 22 year-old Jordan Gook who recently accepted an invitation to become part of the club's media team.

Jordan, who studied Art and Design Media Practice at Nottingham Trent University was spotted by the Blaze media team after he published a superbly designed info-graphic for a Blaze vs. Nottingham Panthers game.

Media Manager, Rob Plaister said: "When we first came across Jordan's info-graphic's we were extremely impressed. Not only was it the first time we'd seen it done well in British hockey, but we also felt his work matched up to pretty much anything we'd seen in world hockey, including the NHL."

Since accepting the invitation to work with the Blaze media team, Jordan has been responsible for producing info-graphics after home games and has also put together other  graphics which you have probably seen used on our social media channels and website.

"I’ve been watching Ice Hockey since I was about 10 years old," said Jordan.  "Throughout my studies I specialised in 3D modelling for Computer Games and it wasn’t until after I graduated that I started Graphic Design work.

"I have a strong passion for design and I’m eager to expand my skill set. Combining my passion for design and Ice Hockey, I spent one Sunday sketching out ideas to design an info-graphic for one of the Nottingham Panthers games. Fortunately, Panthers' photographer Karl Denham was kind enough to let me use his images to add the finishing touches to the design. I shared my info-graphic across social media and after getting an overwhelming response from the fan base I decided to keep going with the designs.

"Personally I felt, compared to the NHL and other North American leagues, the Elite League was lacking in creativity. Info-graphics are an innovative way of displaying statistics and I feel that many EIHL teams could really benefit from using them.

So, when the Blaze media team approached me I was delighted to accept their kind offer and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity. It’s nice to be working with an enthusiastic team that prides itself on the progression of their club."

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and we look forward to working with him further in the future.
