Stewart praises British core
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart heaped praise on his British core following his sides sensational 0-5 victory over the Cardiff Devils on New Years Day.
In his testimonial season, Ross Venus grabbed the headlines by putting in a man-of-the-match performance which saw the 25-year-old score his 8th and 9th goal of the Elite League regular season, his highest career total in just 30 games played so far.
Also enjoying a career year is Luke Ferrara who has now reached 20 goals, the best in the whole Elite League.
Speaking to Gareth Huish for Ice Time TV, Stewart was also quick to point to the defensive contribution of Alex Forbes, David Clements and Jordan Hedley.
He said, “V has been at another level this season. But so have our whole British core. Feds (Luke Ferrara) is having a career year, Forbsey (Alex Forbes) has been fantastic spotting in on D, Clem (David Clements) battled an injury earlier in the year but has been great since he came back and Heds (Jordan Hedley) has been solid when we’ve needed him back there in the pipes. They have all been unbelievable.”
