Stewart nominated for Netminder of the Year
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze’s Brian Stewart has been nominated for Elite League Netminder of the Year.
The 31-year-old, who is looking to retain the award he won last season will face competition from the other nominees, Cardiff Devils' Ben Bowns and Nottingham Panthers' Mika Miika Wiikman.
Stewart, posted a 90.7% save percentage over the 60 Elite League regular season and Challenge Cup games and picked up 13 Man-of-the-Match awards. He also won 4 of 5 penalty-shootouts that he was involved in.
The 6’5” Canadian will now look to take his side to the final four weekend in Nottingham (2nd and 3rd April) where the Elite League awards show will take place on the Sunday at 2.30pm before puck-drop for the playoff final.
Blaze face the Sheffield Steelers in a two-legged quarter finals series this weekend to qualify, with the first-leg taking place at the Skydome Arena on Saturday (7pm face-off).
Stewart has been a thorn in the side of the Elite League Champions all season helping Coventry to record a record of six wins and just two losses against the Steelers during the Elite League regular season.
