Stewart excited to land Eichstadt

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart is excited to welcome 25-year-old defenceman Dillon Eichstadt to his 2019/20 Elite League season roster.

The 6’0” left-shooter joins Blaze direct from the well-respected NCAA where he has iced the past four years for his hometown Bemidji State University.

In 134 NCAA games, the American blue-liner has posted 32 points, proving to be a consistent plus player and named twice to the WCHA All-Academic team.

In 2016/17, Eichstadt was a NCAA (WCHA) regular season champion and the following year named an alternate captain who was a regular on the BSU penalty-kill that led the WCHA.

This past season, as Captain the Bemidji native delivered what may have been the team’s most memorable win of the year by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime vs. Michigan Tech in a fridgid outdoor game.

Growing up less than a mile from the outdoor rink's location, Eichstadt’s hockey career began at Bemidji High School before three years of junior hockey including a season with Sioux Falls Stampede where he was a USHL Clark Cup Champion.

Stewart said, "We are excited about Dillon. He’s coming from a great program at Bemidji and has had a lot of success there. He’s a proven winner, lifting championships in the USHL and NCAA. We are getting a very mobile, puck moving defenceman that plays well on both sides of the puck. He’s got a good work ethic and offensive upside. He’s an engine that can log good minutes for us and we will look to him to contribute at both ends of the ice."
