Russell hails Cowley's GB impact

Russell Cowley’s hugely successful career in the sport came to a perfect end as he was awarded a World Chamionships gold medal for his county in Belfast.

Leading Team GB to the 2017 honour, with Cowley a key member to his side was current Milton Keynes Lightning coach Pete Russell.

Having taken on the role since 2014/15, the Scot who will leave his post with MK at the end of the current season has worked regularly with Cowley, forming a respectful bond with the versatile forward.

Ahead of the #17 jersey retirement by the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze at the Skydome Arena tomorrow, Pete Russell kindly took the time to speak about Cowley’s impact on GB to Ed Kimberley:

The Blaze would encourage fans to purchase tickets for this special game as soon as possible as we are expecting a big crowd.

Please also arrive and find your seats as early as you can on the night. Doors open at 4.30pm.

The ceremony will take place before the puck-drop around 5.15pm. We recommend that everyone is seated by 5pm.
