Preview: Blaze vs. Panthers 25/09/16

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are back in Elite League action this evening, taking on bitter rivals Nottingham Panthers at the Skydome Arena (5.15pm face-off).

Blaze took a point in their opening league game of the season, losing in overtime to the Belfast Giants whilst Nottingham have started well with three wins from the four games played so far, including taking four from six points over a Scotland triple header.

Since their last visit to the Skydome Arena where Blaze took a 3-1 victory in the Challenge Cup (highlights), Nottingham have added 6’4” former NHL tough guy of 317 games and 609 penalty-minutes, Brian McGrattan to the line-up.

Replacing Cam Janssen, McGrattan will be known to many Blaze fans for his numerous NHL tussles with the late Wade Belak in the early 2000’s.

In addition to the Challenge Cup victory over the Panthers, Danny Stewart opened up his Blaze reign with a 6-5 victory over Corey Neilson’s men in pre-season (highlights).

Coventry have won each of their last three home games against the Panthers.

With a big crowd expected tonight, we ask that Blaze fans ‘BLUE OUT THE RINK’. Whatever you wear, please make it blue!

See you at the rink!
