Elite League Playoff race hots up

With a 3-4 victory at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham last night, the Dundee Stars put themselves right back in the mix for an Elite League Playoff spot.

The Stars (44 points) now sit just one point behind the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze (45 points) and their Scottish rivals Braehead Clan (also 45 points), who currently hold the all-important playoff qualifying 8th spot because of their higher amount of regulation wins.

The Blaze have six games remaining, beginning with a huge clash against the Stars away from home on Saturday. They then entertain the Guildford Flames at the Skydome Arena on Sunday (5.15pm).

Before facing Coventry on Saturday, Dundee will make the short trip to Fife Flyers on Friday, rounding off their three-in-three weekend against Milton Keynes on Sunday, again at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Braehead meanwhile face the struggling Edinburgh Capitals on Tuessday before travelling to Belfast to take on the newly crowned Challenge Cup Champion Giants on Saturday. They then return to Glasgow on Sunday to face the high-flying Manchester Storm.
