Patterson takes on junior coaching role
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze would like to wish Gaelan Patterson all the very best as he hangs up the skates to take on an assistant coaching role with the SJHL’s (Canadian Junior A) La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Switching between defence and forward in his one season with the Blaze, the 27-year-old posted 12 goals, 12 assists for 24 points in 56 Elite League regular season games, plus 2 assists in a total of 8 Challenge Cup and Playoff matches.
A product of Saskatoon, Patterson iced four years in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades, getting picked in the seventh-round by the NHL’s Calgary Flames in the 2009 entry draft.
Following five seasons in the AHL and ECHL, the Canadian moved to Europe playing in Norway, France and finally the UK in Coventry.
The Blaze would like to thank Gaelan for his time with the club, and wish him nothing but the best in his new role and future coaching career.
Meanwhile, recruitment for the 2018/19 season continues for Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart who has confirmed that he hopes to make an announcement of a new import player within the next couple of days.
