Patrik Moisio boosts Blaze line-up
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze welcome Finnish forward Patrik Moisio to the club on a four-week-trial.
This season so far, the 25-year-old has iced 16 games in the Asia League for Nikko Icebucks.
Previously, the 6’2” feisty winger has spent much of his pro- career between the well-respected Finnish Elite Liiga and the 2nd tier Mestis. With a combined experience of near 150 games in his home land, the left-shooter also represented his country at under 17 and 18’s level winning a bronze medal in 2009/10.
In 2015/16 with TPS Turku, the club whom he began his career, Moisio played in 9 Champions Hockey League games.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, “With a couple injuries to our roster, combined with the (Garrett) Ladd departure and (Danick) Paquette suspension, we had to move swiftly and find an extra body. Patrik is a big body that can skate, play physical and bring some energy to our line-up. He has played 80 plus games in the SM-liiga in Finland and is still at a young age. We look forward to him being in our line-up this weekend!”
Patrik Moisio commented, “I am very happy to be joining the Coventry Blaze. I can’t wait to get there and play my first game. This is a great opportunity for me. I have heard a lot of good things about the Elite League and my conversations with Coach Stewart have been very positive. Coventry is a famous organisation in the UK and I will do my very best that I can to help the team.”
Moisio will make his Blaze debut away vs. Braehead Clan on Saturday before his first home appearance at the Skydome Arena on Sunday against the Manchester Storm (5.15pm).
