One-game ban's for Valabik and Desbiens

Coventry Blaze defenceman Boris Valabik has been suspended for one game by the Elite League Department of Player Safety.

Valabik received a Match Penalty for Checking from Behind during Coventry’s game against Sheffield Steelers on Sunday 28th February 2016.

Following the review, DOPS have altered this to a Match Penalty for Boarding.

This penalty carries an automatic one-game ban, which cannot be appealed against.

Valabik will miss Coventry’s game with Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday 5th March 2016.

Sheffield Steelers forward Guillaume Desbiens has been suspended for one game by the Elite League Department of Player Safety.

Desbiens was assessed a Match Penalty for Slashing at the end of his side’s game in Coventry on Sunday.

This penalty, which has been upheld by DOPS, carries an automatic one-game ban, which cannot be appealed against.

Desbiens will miss Sheffield’s game with Fife on Saturday 5th March.

Watch the explanation from DOPS:

No further action will be taken on Nottingham Panthers forward Cam Janssen.

Janssen received a 5+Game Checking to the Head penalty at Braehead on Sunday 28th February 2016.

DOPS have reviewed the incident and agree with the call made on the ice.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Panthers coach Corey Neilson has been fined for comments made following his side’s game at Braehead Clan last Sunday.

He has also been warned as to his future conduct in interviews.
