Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé Haché is back
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to announce the return of 25-year-old Canadian defenceman Justin Hache for the 2019/20 Elite League season.
The 6’2” native of Petit-Rocher, New Brunswick iced in 50 Elite League competition games last season, posting 8 goals, 3 of which were game-winners, plus 24 assists.
Proving strong at both ends of the ice, the left-shooter will combine his playing duties with a years’ study at Coventry University.
Prior to his debut season in the UK, Hache registered 28 points in 58 regular season and playoff games for SønderjyskE of the Danish Metal Ligaen.
A former Memorial Cup winner (2012), and QMJHL Best Defensive Defenceman, Hache was selected by the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes in round 7, 208th overall of the 2012 entry draft. In 2014, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Coyotes before subsequently being traded to the Dallas Stars organisation in 2017.
In addition to appearing in several NHL rookie camp games, the blue-liner has iced 150 times with 22 points in the AHL with Portland Pirates, Springfield Falcons, Tucson Roadrunners and Texas Stars. He also has 34 appearances in the ECHL with 12 points between 2014 and 2017.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, “Getting Justin back is a big signing for us. He’s a top pairing guy that excels at both ends of the ice. He plays in all situations and eats up big minutes on the back-end. An injury disrupted him this past season, but he came back and was healthy at the end. Guys that can produce at both ends of the ice are vital in today’s game and he does that for us in a big way.”
