Noble & Dingle to Assist Captain Pietrus
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart has confirmed that defenceman Kevin Noble and forward Ryan Dingle will be the assistant's to Captain Jordan Pietrus for the 2017/18 Elite League season.
Noble, who is entering his third season with the club has iced in more than 100 Elite League competition games, helping Blaze to reach the playoff final in 2016.
Dingle, was recently signed from Elite League rivals Fife Flyers, where he held the Captaincy, playing 110 games, registering 120 points over two seasons.
Pietrus, who was handed the Blaze ‘C’ last summer following an impressive first season with the club said:
“Danny's appointment of Kevin and Ryan as assistant Captain's speaks volumes to the type of team that he has built.
"Nobes is a guy who practices and plays every day with so much passion and wears his heart on his sleeve. He is constantly pushing his teammates in practice to be better, and in games he competes each night at a level that not many players can match."
“He is tough to play against, makes a great first pass and is a great defender. The past two years he has led by example without a letter and I'm confident he will continue to do so this season. He also has a really good head for the game behind the scenes, so he brings a ton of intangibles to the table in addition to the tangible things we see on the ice during games.”
On the appointment of Dinge, Pietrus commented:
“Not only does Ryan bring experience of being a Captain in Fife to us, but he was an absolute warrior to play against last year. Every game we played against him he was completely relentless, strong on his stick, good on face-offs and plays a 200-foot-game.
“I've heard from multiple people that he has tireless work-ethic and an amazing, positive attitude. I was very excited when I learned of his signing, and I'm confident he will add many great attributes to our line-up.”
“I'm excited to be a part of a leadership group with these two guys," continued Pietrus. "I believe the three of us will complement each other well in the room and on the ice. All three of us understand that to build a championship team we will need to lead by committee and will rely on many guys in our room to be leaders in many different ways.”
See Pietrus, Dingle and Noble lead the new Blaze team into action for the first time at the Skydome Arena on Wednesday (23rd August) 7.30pm.
