Night to forget for Blaze
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze had a night to forget on Remembrance Sunday, falling to a 2-4 defeat and one point weekend against the Glasgow Clan.
After a exquisitely served period of remembrance, as per the night before, Alex Nikiforuk opened the scoring with a rocket shot past Clan goalie Joel Rumpel (4.12).
Then though came three unanswered for Glasgow with Rasmus Bjerrum (8.15), Gerard Hanson (12.20) and Craig Peacock on the powerplay (14.44) giving the away side a commanding lead after twenty minutes.
The second saw no further scoring, and whether it be tiredness from a long journey back from Scotland the night before or not, the Blaze passing game became awry, meaning the home side struggled to re-gain any momentum.
The third period felt much the same with Blaze failing to make the most of two powerplay opportunities (0/4 on the night, their opponents 1/2).
With Scott Tanski making it 1-4 on 56.49, the game was over but Tim Crowder (58.36) did grab a consolation for a 2-4 final scoreline.
