Ethan Kane appointed Equipment Manager
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to welcome Ethan Kane to the club in the position of full-time Equipment Manager.
Ethan will be a familiar face to many having been a supporter since 2000 and a previous employee of Planet Ice.
For the past ten years, Ethan has formed strong bonds within the ice hockey community, which extends to playing recreational hockey and taking responsibility for the maintenance of team equipment.
This will be Ethan’s first role as an Equipment Manager at the professional level, and so it has been agreed that Steve Small will temporarily postpone his retirement to train Ethan into the role and re-take his retirement towards the end of 2019.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said of the appointment, “From the moment we posted the job, Ethan showed the enthusiasm we were looking for. Once we got ‘Smallsey’ back involved to train him up, we quickly realised he was our guy moving forward. He’s passionate about the club, but more importantly he’s hard-working, eager to learn and picks things up very quickly. He has all the attributes to be a real success in this job and we look forward to working with him going forward.”
Ethan commented, “Having been a fan of the club for nearly 20 years, it’s always been a dream of mine to get involved in an appropriate capacity. I have been heavily involved in the ice hockey community both personally and professionally for nearly a decade and the sport has become a lifestyle for me. When Danny contacted me about the opportunity to come on board, I made it my main priority and I’m really excited.
“All credit to Steve Small for the environment he has created here and for delaying his well-deserved retirement to help me. I truly hope I can become half the professional that he is and become a vital part of the team.”
