Dillon Lawrence joins on 4 week trial
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart has confirmed that 23-year-old Canadian forward Dillon Lawrence will join the club on a four-week trial.
The Toronto native spent last season with the Edinburgh Capitals and will join the club following a summer playing in the Australian Ice Hockey League with Melbourne Ice where in 21 appearances he registered 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.
Prior to spending his first professional season in Scotland, Lawrence iced 37 times for Boston University helping the team to a NCAA (Hockey East) regular and post-season Championship.
Based in Edinburgh, Lawrence who has a British passport (but classed as an import under Elite League rules) will fly into Coventry shortly ahead of the club’s pre-season campaign which begins with back-to-back fixtures vs. the Cardiff Devils on Saturday 25th August at Ice Arena Wales (7pm) and Sunday 26th August at the Skydome Arena in Coventry (5.15pm).
Danny Stewart commented, "Dillon is a big young kid with some skill. We wanted to add the extra body so we don’t go into pre-season short. He has every opportunity to impress and make the club during his trial and we look forward to getting him here with the guys."
