Chartrand congratulates Cowley

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze will retire the jersey of their all-time record appearance holder Russell Cowley on Sunday ahead of the game against the Sheffield Steelers at the Skydome Arena.

The #17 will be raised to the rafters alongside other legendary numbers, #55 Stephen Cooper, #25 Adam Calder, #26 Dan Carlson and #12 Steve Chartrand.

Cowley, who first joined the club in 2001 played alongside all four of the aforementioned players during his illustrious Blaze career.

Today we are delighted to share a message to the British forward from one of those legends, “Frenchie”, #12 Steve Chartrand.

The French/Canadian won the British National League double with Cowley in 2002/03 before entering the first year of the Elite League in a line-up together.

That 2003/04 season was the last for Chartrand, proudly departing the organisation for which he’d made a sensational impact since joining in 1990 as then the Solihull Barons.
