Blaze snap up Bloodoff from Elite League rivals

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are delighted to announce to the signing of 28-year-old Canadian forward Evan Bloodoff (pronounced blue-doff) who has spent the past two years with Elite League rivals Fife Flyers.

With the Kirkcaldy based club, the 5’11” speedy winger was regularly amongst the league’s top offensive producers, playing a total of 110 games in Elite League competition scoring 62 goals and 35 assists for a total of 97 points. In 2017/18, he lifted the Gardiner Conference trophy and, in both years, helped Fife to a post-season playoff spot.

Before moving to the UK, the Castlegar, BC native iced in near 330 ECHL and AHL regular season and playoff games registering over 170 points.

Notably in 2014/15, Bloodoff scored 20 goals and a total of 32 points, helping the Florida Everblades be crowned Eastern Conference Champions.

Prior to turning professional in 2011, the left-shooter enjoyed five seasons with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL where in 327 appearances he contributed 61 goals, 57 assists for 118 points. He was named an associate Captain for two years, and in 2009 was a WHL champion.

A further proud moment for Bloodoff in that same year was when he was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the 6th round of the NHL entry draft, an experience which also saw him score in an NHL exhibition game.

Head Coach Danny Stewart said, "With losing some key guys from last season, it’s vital that we replace production and adding a guy like Evan who has scored over 60 goals the past two seasons does that. He skates well, plays the right way and scores goals in different ways. He’s a dirty area guy and can score from anywhere. At times last season, although we scored a lot of goals, I felt when games got heavy we had a tough time scoring those dirty goals, so adding a guy like Evan is important and the fact he’s a veteran, will prove important with a younger group."

On the move, Bloodoff commented, “I have nothing but good things to say about the organisation in Fife, but I just thought it was time for a change. I’m very excited about this new opportunity in Coventry and I’m looking forward to meeting everybody there in August.”
