Blaze fall to Flyers
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze fell to their second defeat in as many night's in Scotland, falling to the Fife Flyers 4-3 in Kirkcaldy.
The first period was dominated by the home side, Ryan Dingle giving Fife the lead from a behind the net pass by Justin Fox at 8.26.
Russ Moyer doubled the Scottish sides lead at 14.10 on the powerplay before Blaze coach Danny Stewart called a 30 second time-out.
Carlo Finucci though made it 3-0 at 15.57 capitalising on a 2-on-1 break.
On a 5-on-3 powerplay opportunity, Blaze conceded again, Fife making it 4-0 short-handed in what turned out to be the game-winning-goal. Philippe Paquet beating Stewart top corner at 27.56.
Coventry got on the board at 37.29, a shot from Josh Godfrey tipped by Garrett Klotz for 4-1.
T.J Syner grabbed his first goal for the club on a 5-on-3 powerplay at 44.13, assisted by Barry Almeida to make it 4-2.
Blaze Man of the Match Josh Godfrey then made it a one goal game, re-directing a Syner shot past Shane Owen for 4-3 at 44.56.
Despite pulling Brian Stewart for the closing minute, Blaze couldn't find the equalising goal, Fife skating away with a 4-3 victory.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, "The same individual mistakes absolutely killed us. Last night we weren't at the races plain and simple. Worst game of the year. Tonight we come out the first 4 or 5 minutes flying, we had the puck in their end the whole time, kill off a 5-on-3 for a full 2 minutes. We feel the energy and then we make an absolutely awful error. We had some jump and some energy but individual errors will cost you hockey games and they did tonight."
