Blaze earn convincing victory in Fife
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze earnt a convincing 2-5 road victory over bottom of the table Fife Flyers at Fife Ice Arena on Saturday night.
Coventry travelled to Scotland without back-up netminder Jordan Hedley and forward Johnny Curran. Craig Douglas of the Murrayfield Racers deputised for Hedley whilst popular Canadian David Broll came back into the line-up after several weeks out and a recent suspension.
Influential centre Charles Corcoran got Blaze on the board first at 3.07 before the Elite League’s top-scorer Luke Ferrara made it two at 7.09.
Before the first period was done, Paul Crowder managed to beat C.J. Motte in the Blaze net (13.26) for a score of 1-2 after twenty minutes.
Ferrara, who was awarded man of the match gave Coventry a two-goal cushion back, scoring on the powerplay at 22.40, his 26th goal of the Elite League season so far.
To their credit, Fife quickly responded through Mike Cazzola at 23.31 but a sweet finish from Dillon Eichstadt at 27.37 to put Blaze 2-4 up seemed to knock the fight out of the Flyers.
The game was wrapped up at 59.31 when Justin Hache fired home on the man advantage to give a final score of 2-5.
