Blaze confirm Liam Stewart departure
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm that forward Liam Stewart will depart the club following 57 appearances over the 2016/17 Elite League season.
Contributing 11 goals and 11 assists, the 22-year-old became a popular figure, picking up the fans’ Player of the Year award.
Stewart, who joined the Blaze after a short stint with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL, followed up the recent season in Coventry by scoring twice to help Team Great Britain to a gold medal at the World Championships (Division 1B) in Belfast.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, "We have been in discussions with Liam, but we can only be expected to wait so long. Inevitably, other options have come our way which we weren't prepared to miss out on, and so therefore we have had to take the decision to wish Liam all the best in whatever he chooses to do."
