Due to the uncertainty of a return date for Elite League ice hockey in the UK, many clubs have told their contracted players that they may pursue opportunities available elsewhere.
Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart met online with his signed group last week to inform his players of that same message, but also state his desire to see them return as and when hockey is able to return in the UK.
Thus far, the Blaze had announced the return of Drew Scheistel, Justin Hamonic, Luke Ferrara, David Broll, Evan Bloodoff and C.J. Motte.
A number of other players from the successful 2019/20 roster had also committed to the club for the 2020/21 season and Danny will speak about these players in further communications planned shortly.
Associate Captain David Broll has informed us that he has signed for a club in North America (for a hopeful 2020/21 season) and the team will be announcing him in the coming days.
It goes without saying that David was excited to return to Coventry, and we hope to see him back in a Blaze jersey again in the near future.
We appreciate that many people will have questions following today’s announcement and we are in the process of establishing platforms to best receive and answer these.
As a club we want to assure supporters that we are committed to playing again as soon as government guidelines allow us to.
We want to take this time to once again thank everyone, our amazing fans, sponsors, staff, players and volunteers for their support during this difficult time.
