Blaze break overtime hoodoo
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze broke their overtime hoodoo picking up a huge 2-3 win in the additional period against the Guildford Flames at the Spectrum.
A sensational goal from Evan Bloodoff put Coventry ahead at 14.10 with the Canadian putting a puck through the legs of a Flames defenceman before finishing for 0-1.
As he always seems to do against the Blaze, Calle Ackered registered at 22.35 to tie the score at one.
With Coventry having a goal disallowed in the third period, it could have ended up being one of those nights when T.J. Foster showed good speed to beat C.J. Motte with just less than ten minutes remaining (51.06).
Blaze though showed their character, hitting back through Andrew Johnston at 56.29 to end the game 2-2 after 60 minutes.
The momentum stayed with Coventry in overtime and it was Justin Hache with a back-hand effort in front of the net who was to win the game 2-3 (62.43).
The overtime victory broke an unwanted streak of eight games without a win in games that have gone past the 60-minute mark for Blaze.
