Blaze add Flodqvist to line-up

The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze are pleased to welcome Swedish forward Thom Flodqvist to their Elite League line-up.

The 28-year-old arrives in the UK from his home-town club Södertälje of the Allsvenskan, where he has spent the past two years, and also his junior career.

Flodqvist will remain contracted to Södertälje, but the club have agreed to loan the player to Blaze for the remainder of the season.

The 5'10" right-shooter boasts over 50 games at Sweden's elite level, the SHL and in near 200 appearances in the second-tier, has contributed 55 points, also playing 120 times at Division 1 (third-tier) scoring well over a point-per-game with 142 in total.

In 2016/17 in Division 1 with Kristianstads IK in the AllEttan South division, he recorded the best plus/minus (+17), scored the most goals (12) and had the most total points (32) of all players.

In addition to his experience in Sweden, Flodqvist has had a stand-out year in Denmark with Frederikshavn White Hawks where in 2013/14, his 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in 51 regular season and playoff appearances helped the Hawks to a bronze medal.

Head Coach Danny Stewart said, "In Thom we get a workhorse who can play in all situations. A right handed guy who can come in and play all forward positions. He’s a shooter, who has had a lot of success in the past scoring goals and producing points. He will make us better in all areas and we look forward to having him in the line-up next week."
