Bethany-Shannon Ice Hockey Festival 2017
On the 22nd of June 2010, little Bethany-Shannon Preston died suddenly and unexpectedly. It is speculated that she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, however, there is no way of knowing the exact cause of her untimely death.
While nothing will ever bring Bethany-Shannon back, Bethany's parents have since put their focus into fundraising to try and prevent other families from going through the same horrible situation many must go through daily.
Since 2011, Bethany’s Legacy has raised over £10,000 for various charities.
On Saturday June 17th and Sunday June 18th the 3rd Bethany-Shannon ice hockey festival will take place at Coventry’s Skydome Arena.
The event will be in support of Cardiomyopathy UK who are a specialist charity for people affected by cardiomyopathy. Their vision is for everyone affected by cardiomyopathy to lead long and fulfilling lives. The charity provides support and information services, work to raise awareness of the condition, campaign for better access to quality treatment and promote research (cardiomyopathy.org).
As last year, the Bethany-Shannon Memorial game will kick things off on Saturday June 17th (16.15pm approx following public skating session - doors open 16.00pm).
The match will feature several NIHL players from around the country, and also guests from your Genting Casino Coventry Blaze, British pair Ross Venus and David Clements.
This game will then be followed by a ten-team rec tournament, Saturday from 19.15pm, concluding on Sunday June 18th from 16.15pm. Entry to the tournament is free.
The two-previous hockey festivals at the Skydome have raised upwards of £3,000 and this year we want to continue the great success of the event and get as many people into the Skydome as possible!
Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for children (£4 on the door).
Tickets can be purchased (and donations made) online or you can get a ticket on the door on the day:
