Amiens take win in first game of weekend
Four goals in the middle period were enough for Gothiques d'Amiens to win the first of back-to-back games between the two sides at the Skydome Arena.
With Miika Wiikman returning to the Blaze net following illness, newly appointed Captain Kevin Morris gave Blaze an early lead. Shawn Pauly making it 2-0 before the first period was done.
To the delight of the dozen or so Amiens fans who had travelled, it was all the French side in the middle period scoring four unanswered.
In the third, fter a full two minute 5-on-3 had just expired, Coventry Man of the Match Nicolai Bryhnisveen beat the outstanding Henri-Corentin Buysse to draw the home side within one but it wasn’t enough as the away side skated away with a 3-4 victory.
The two sides meet again at the Skydome Arena on Sunday (5.15pm).
