6'4" Morris beefs up Blaze forward group

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart has beefed up his 2018/19 Elite League forward group with the signing of 6’4” American winger Kevin Morris.

The 25-year-old, Massena, New York native joins the club from Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL where he was an Associate Captain playing 139 regular season and playoff games, during which he posted 79 points (37 goals, 42 assists).

His CV also shows 16 appearances in the AHL with Binghamton Senators and later Devils, plus the Syracuse Crunch.

Prior to turning pro, alongside new Blaze defenceman Chris Joyaux, the left-shooting Morris was an NCAA (CCHA) regular season Champion and NCAA (NCHC) Champion with Miami University. An Associate Captain in his final of four years, he played 153 times with 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists).

He also proudly made the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team in his sophomore and senior years.

During his time with the Blaze, Morris will study at Coventry University's Business School.

Danny Stewart said, “Kevin brings us a big body up front that can play anywhere up and down our line-up. For his size he moves well and plays both sides of the puck well. He’s detailed in his approach and will complement our line-up very well. He can make plays all over the ice, but also likes playing in those tough areas and succeeds at it. He is another guy with high character and a daily approach to get better. He will be an important player for us.”

Kevin Morris commented, “I am extremely excited to start the next chapter of my career in Coventry. I’ve heard great things about the Elite League, Coventry, and the management staff. I can’t wait to first, help put a great product on the ice for the city of Coventry, but also experience England’s rich and historic culture.

“On the ice, you can expect a power forward who takes pride playing in all situations. I play a hard-nosed game and love to compliment high skilled forwards. I am a physical player who loves to score gritty goals by being in the right spot and playing the right way.”
